STUFFED OVEN-BAKED APPLES (by Maman)

STUFFED OVEN-BAKED APPLES (by Maman)

This is the recipe Maman made for us 4 girls, throughout our childhood. It was a healthy dessert that we loved (each apple is stuffed with some sweet homemade concoction of dried fruits and nuts) and that didn't make her feel like she was feeding us too much artificial sweets. Bon appetit!

Serves 6  l  Difficulty: very easy  l  Prep time: 20min  l  Total time: 50min

INGREDIENTS
6 apples
1/2 cup butter
6 dried prunes
6 dates
6 dried apricots
10 pecan nuts
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 cups of apple juice

STEPS
1. Peal, wash and core apples, leaving enough of the core at the base of the apple to contain the filling.

2. Mix all ingredients and press the mixture into each apple to fill the core. If there is additional mixture left, dilute it in bit of lemon juice and spread at the bottom of your baking dish.

3. Bake in 430F oven during 30 minutes.

4. Serve lukewarm with an optional vanilla ice cream scoop.
